My name is Chris Porter (@uprightvinyl), and I’m a Principal Solutions Architect at Nutanix, specialising in Cloud Native technologies such as Kubernetes. I’m based in Sydney, Australia. Prior to joining Nutanix, I worked at AWS for almost 5 years. And in a past life I worked as an Infrastructure Architect at a bank in central London. I write about technology and the tech community.

I’m certified in Kubernetes since 2025 (CKA, KCNA), Nutanix since 2024 (NCM-MCI, NCP-MCI, NCA), AWS since 2015 (SA Pro & Associate, DevOps Pro,  Networking Speciality, SysOps Pro, Developer Associate), and VMware since 2010 (VCDX, VCAP, VCP-DCV). In 2017 I took part and won Season 5 of Virtual Design Master.

Also in 2017, I became a first time VMware vExpert and gained the vExpert Cloud ‘badge’. I’ve been a vExpert ever since.
